CNC MANUAL CONVENTIONAL MACHINIST

Successful candidates will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines. The CNC Machinist must be able to read and interpret drawings and part specifications and adhere to strict tolerances and maintain strict attention to detail.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Independently program, set up and run 4 and 5-Axis CNC milling machines and CNC turning machines.
  • Must have programming experience with MasterCAM software/ Solid works is a bonus
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints and/or sketches of part to determine final product
  • Perform the best practices in implementing cutting toolpath, cutting parameters, post-processing, cutting tools and cutting fluids
  • Utilizing precision measuring equipment to verify proper dimensions and tolerances are achieved and maintained
  • Design and make fixtures for parts machining
  • Meeting and maintaining established production standards and quality
  • Must have experience operating manual lathes and milling machines
  • Able to work with minimal supervision

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in mechanics or a related field is an asset
  • Minimum 7 experience setting up and operating 4 and 5-axis CNC Milling Machines
  • Minimum 7 years experience in CNC programming
  • Experience with manufacturing precision-machined components
  • Jobbing Shop Experience
  • Ability to work in a fast paced/changing environment
  • Experience setting up and operating CNC Lathe an asset
  • Experience running manual lathe and milling machine a must
  • Experience with MasterCAM a must
  • 3D CAD design experience, ex: Solidworks is a bonus
  • Knowledge of cutting tool geometry
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools and equipment to verify product dimensions and quality
  • Good communication and problem solving skills
