Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Punjabi-speaking Health Care Aide to provide exceptional patient care in a variety of settings, including assisted living, nursing homes, and home health environments. The ideal candidate will be fluent in Punjabi and possess a strong understanding of medical terminology and caregiving practices. This role involves assisting patients with daily activities, monitoring health status, and ensuring their comfort and safety while maintaining strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. The position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors and individuals with disabilities, supporting their independence and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Provide personalized patient care by assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Monitor and observe patients' health status, including vital signs and symptoms related to dementia, Alzheimer's, or other chronic conditions.
- Assist with medication administration following prescribed protocols and document medical records accurately using EMR/EHR systems.
- Support patients with memory care needs, including dementia and Alzheimer's care, ensuring a safe environment.
- Operate medical equipment such as Hoyer lifts, catheters, and other assistive devices safely and effectively.
- Assist with meal preparation, feeding, laundry, cleaning, and maintaining a hygienic living space.
- Document patient information meticulously in compliance with HIPAA standards and medical documentation protocols.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients with developmental disabilities or requiring hospice or long-term care.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, working compassionately with people with disabilities or in hospice care.
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to infection control procedures and safety guidelines.
Experience
- Prior experience working in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home health care is preferred.
- Experience working with people with developmental disabilities or dementia is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and medical documentation is essential.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for record keeping is advantageous.
- Certification in CPR is required; additional certifications such as catheter care or hospice care are a plus.
- Previous experience working with diverse populations including seniors or individuals with disabilities will be considered an asset. This role requires excellent communication skills in Punjabi to effectively connect with patients and their families while providing culturally sensitive care. The successful candidate will demonstrate professionalism, empathy, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient-centered care in a supportive environment.
