Shield One Landscaping, a fast-growing, family-run snow and ice management company, is hiring immediately for the upcoming winter season. We're looking for reliable Snow Plow Operators and Snow Removal Labourers who want consistent winter work, great team culture, and the chance to grow with us year after year.
If you have experience with plows, trucks, heavy equipment, landscaping, or construction — amazing.
If not, but you're responsible, mechanically inclined, and eager to learn — we'll train you.
Job Summary
The Snow Plow Operator / Labourer will be responsible for safely clearing snow and ice from commercial and residential properties. This includes operating plow trucks, salt spreaders, snow blowers, and shovels to maintain safe, accessible sites during and after storms.
This role is on-call, weather-dependent, and ideal for someone who can handle early mornings, late nights, and tough winter conditions.
Key ResponsibilitiesSnow Plow Operator
- Operate snow plow trucks and equipment to clear driveways, lots, and roadways
- Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on plow equipment
- Use mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot issues with machinery
- Apply salt/de-icing materials safely and efficiently
- Complete pre- and post-operation safety checks
- Follow assigned routes and complete site sheets accurately
- Maintain detailed logs of areas cleared and materials used
Snow Removal Labourer
- Clear walkways, entrances, sidewalks, and stairs using shovels and snow blowers
- Spread ice melt on walkways and high-traffic pedestrian zones
- Assist plow operator with site clean-ups
- Work safely in dark/icy conditions and communicate clearly with the team
Qualifications & Experience
Preferred:
- Experience operating snow plows, excavators, skid steers, tractors, or similar equipment
- Mechanical knowledge (basic repairs, troubleshooting, power/hand tools)
- Experience in landscaping, construction, or outdoor maintenance
- Familiarity with horticulture, gardening, irrigation systems (asset)
Required:
- Valid G license for Plow Operators
- Reliable transportation to job sites or our yard
- Ability to work long or irregular hours during storms
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in extreme weather
- Strong focus on safety and attention to detail
No snow experience?
If you're a careful driver, mechanically inclined, or experienced in trades/landscaping — we can train you.
Schedule & Pay
- Seasonal: November–April
- On-call based on snowfall
- Shifts may be overnight, early morning, daytime, weekends, or holidays
- Stand by fee: starting at $400 per month
- Competitive pay: $25-35 per hour
