Employment Resource Advisor / Job Developer – York Region

DUTIES:

  • General front desk tasks: answering telephone calls, greeting clients, facsimile distribution, general file management
  • Pre-screen telephone/email inquires and schedule intake appointments using online calendar appointment system
  • Logging and assigning client referrals to Employment Consultants in a timely manner
  • Address general questions regarding programming received from potential or existing referrals and referral parties
  • Email documents (Consent form, Virtual Invite, etc.) to participants prior to intake
  • Assist with the completion of client eligibility determination and identify verification
  • Contact clients 1-day prior to appointment to remind them and confirm their appointment
  • Create and edit client resume and cover letters; register clients for job search workshops
  • Facilitate employment-based workshops and job clubs, and provide clients with one-on-one job search support as requested
  • Research job postings on behalf of clients for distribution and support clients by applying on their behalf
  • Coordinate with Employment Consultants to complete client follow ups in a timely manner and document outcomes in case notes
  • Communicate with Employment Consultants to verify client program status, attendance, employment details, training/other supports
  • Participate in general outreach efforts both on site as well as at locations of community partners and employers in York region to generate referrals and inform of services available
  • Create strategic plans for finding and securing employment / placement opportunities
  • Network and develop relationships with employers to identify suitable job/placement opportunities for clients
  • Support clients in self-serve area to access resources, including client computers, telephones, printer, etc.
  • Complete backup administrative tasks to address overflow needs
  • Maintain office appearance and facilitate general office housekeeping, i.e. replenishing paper, identifying office supply needs, requesting service calls.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in conducting similar duties
  • New graduates with a BA Degree or College Diploma in employment counselling, career development or in related field such as psychology, education, communications, human resources, recruitment or social services also welcome to apply
  • Previous experience conducting client facing duties, including answering and transferring telephone calls, greeting clients
  • Demonstrated experience providing superior customer service and working with individuals with complex barriers
  • Knowledge of local labour market and community resources an asset
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, TEAMS, Zoom, LinkedIn
  • Advanced English communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Superior organizational skills, with ability to manage time and prioritize duties
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Ability to compose accurate and detailed written information in a timely basis
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with a proven track record of meeting targets and outcomes
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and motivation when completing tasks to ensure program targets are achieved
  • Knowledge of Canadian labour market conditions, practices, trends, job search strategies and techniques
  • Valid Ontario 'G' class driver's license with access to vehicle
  • Employment conditional on obtaining a Vulnerable Sector Check
