Job Summary

We are seeking patient, attentive, and reliable Respite Care Providers to support two children with unique needs — one requiring high behavioral and sensory support and another who is active, social, and medically sensitive.

This position is activity-driven and involves implementing care strategies that encourage safety, independence, and positive engagement at home and in the community.

Caregivers will assist with personal care, facilitate structured play, manage safety risks (including elopement and falls), administer or support medication routines, and apply calming and communication techniques tailored to each child's needs.

Due to the nature of support required, female caregivers are preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 respite care both in-home and in community settings.
• Implement care strategies and calming techniques to manage anxiety, agitation, or repetitive behaviors.
• Administer or assist with medication following family instructions and established protocols.
• Encourage engagement through interactive and interest-based activities such as board games, building games, outdoor play, or educational outings.
• Support daily routines, including personal care, mealtime assistance, and structured transitions.
• Remain alert to safety risks such as elopement, self-harm tendencies, or sensory triggers.
• Assist with mobility and balance when needed, as vestibular migraines may increase risk of tripping or falling.
• Promote emotional regulation by redirecting challenging behavior calmly and without judgment.
• Provide consistent supervision during outings, ensuring both children's safety — especially when one is highly active or may wander.
• Monitor for asthma or cardiac symptoms and respond promptly as per emergency care plans.
• Maintain accurate daily documentation of care routines, incidents, medications, and behavioral notes.
• Collaborate with families, supervisors, and caseworkers to ensure consistent, high-quality care and communication.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Female Caregiver Preferred (based on family request for comfort and cultural fit)
• Minimum 1 year experience working with children or youth with ASD, ADHD, OCD, sensory sensitivities, or complex behavioral needs.
• Demonstrated patience and skill in de-escalation, redirection, and positive behavior support.
• Understanding of elopement risks, safety planning, and emotional regulation techniques.
• Experience supporting children with asthma, heart conditions, or vestibular/migraine-related balance challenges.
• Comfortable working in homes with dogs and a bearded dragon (no allergies to pets).
• Valid Driver's License and reliable vehicle (required).
• Current First Aid/CPR Certification or willingness to obtain.
• Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (required).
• Strong communication, adaptability, and teamwork skills.

Pay: $19.00-$21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 – 40 per week
