Winston AI is a fast-growing Montreal-based company specializing in AI-generated content detection. We build high-traffic SaaS products used by millions of users worldwide, with a strong focus on quality, performance, and user experience.

We are expanding our team and are looking for a Full-Stack Web Developer (Front-End Heavy) with a strong Laravel foundation and excellent front-end instincts. We are looking for someone who genuinely cares about UX, clarity, performance, and enjoys solving complex technical problems.

This position is fully remote, but we are seeking a candidate based in Quebec.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning features end-to-end, from product thinking and interface design all the way through backend logic and production debugging.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and improve user-facing features for our SaaS applications (Laravel).
  • Build rich, responsive interfaces using modern front-end technologies.
  • Collaborate closely with product and design teams to improve user flows, usability, and clarity.
  • Debug complex front-end and full-stack issues across different browsers, devices, and environments.
  • Optimize application performance, perceived speed, and reliability.
  • Implement and maintain clean APIs, authentication flows, and billing-related features.
  • Contribute to architecture discussions, code reviews, and engineering best practices.
  • Deliver features iteratively with a high level of polish and attention to detail.

Required Skills

Front-End / UX

  • Excellent command of JavaScript and TypeScript.
  • Strong experience with modern front-end frameworks (React required).
  • Strong understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and modern layout techniques.
  • Experience with utility-first CSS frameworks (Tailwind or equivalent).
  • Strong UX sensitivity: spacing, visual hierarchy, interactions, edge cases.
  • Ability to turn vague ideas into clear, intuitive interfaces.
  • Excellent debugging skills (browser dev tools, network analysis, performance profiling).

Back-End / Full Stack

  • Strong experience with Laravel.
  • Experience designing and consuming REST APIs.
  • Good understanding of authentication, authorization, and billing workflows.
  • Strong SQL skills (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and caching (Redis).
  • Comfortable with the full lifecycle of a request.
  • General knowledge of queues, workers, and background jobs.
  • Python development experience.
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning and Deep Learning.
  • Good understanding of the Hugging Face ecosystem.

  • Self-sufficient and comfortable working remotely.
  • Strong interest in AI-powered tools and modern development workflows.
