Job Summary
Bird is on a mission to revolutionize urban mobility by providing clean, affordable, and on-demand micromobility solutions. We partner closely with the communities we serve to build transportation systems that are sustainable, equitable, and accessible.
We are seeking a strategic and driven Operations Manager to lead Bird's operations in Kamloops, BC. This role has full ownership of the market's performance, including P&L responsibility, operational execution, and team leadership. The Operations Manager will work closely with regional leadership to drive growth, optimize operations, and ensure Bird's success in the city. This is a high-impact opportunity for a critical thinker who thrives in a fast-paced, data-driven environment and is passionate about building and scaling teams.
Responsibilities
Own and manage the full operational lifecycle of the Kamloops market, including ridership performance, fleet operations, and supply chain execution.
Drive strategic market growth using data-driven insights to increase market share, improve operational efficiency, and execute local initiatives and campaigns.
Recruit, train, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of full-time and hourly employees, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
Serve as the primary point of contact for city officials, vendors, and third-party partners, building strong relationships to support smooth operations and community alignment.
Identify operational challenges and implement creative, effective solutions through continuous process improvement.
Manage financial performance by controlling costs, maintaining positive margins, and driving top-line growth.
Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams such as operations, marketing, and leadership to ensure alignment with broader company objectives and successful execution of local initiatives.
Must Haves
3+ years of relevant operations experience, including at least 1 year of people management.
Demonstrated experience managing P&L and delivering measurable business outcomes in an operational or leadership role.
Strong strategic mindset with the ability to balance long-term planning and day-to-day execution.
Highly data-driven with proven problem-solving and process improvement skills; comfortable analyzing operational metrics to inform decisions.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with senior leaders, frontline teams, and external stakeholders.
Experience managing relationships with city officials, vendors, and third-party partners.
Strong Excel and data management skills; experience with operational reporting and optimization tools is an asset.
Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently in a fast-moving environment.
Adaptable and innovative, with a passion for continuous learning and improvement.
Secondary School education (required).
