Overview

We are seeking a vigilant and dependable Security Officer to ensure the safety and security of our premises, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of responsibility, excellent observation skills, and the ability to respond effectively to various situations. This role is vital in maintaining a secure environment and preventing loss or damage. Prior experience in law enforcement, military, or security fields is highly valued, along with certifications in first aid and CPR.

Duties

  • Monitor surveillance equipment such as CCTV to observe activity and identify potential security threats.
  • Monitor and control gate access, engage with drivers and visitors.
  • Assist staff and drivers as required.
  • Use walkie-talkies and follow communication protocols.
  • Observe and report safety or security incidents.
  • Support rotational shifts: morning, evening, and night.
  • Conduct regular patrols of the premises to deter unauthorized access and ensure safety protocols are followed.
  • Respond promptly to alarms, incidents, or emergencies, including medical situations requiring first aid or CPR.
  • Enforce security policies by checking identification, managing access points, and preventing unauthorized entry.
  • Manage conflict situations with professionalism and conflict management skills, de-escalating disputes when necessary.
  • Document incidents accurately through detailed reports for future reference and legal purposes.
  • Assist with loss prevention strategies by observing suspicious behavior and intervening when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement or emergency services during investigations or emergencies as needed.

Experience

● 1+ years verifiable security experience.

● Valid Ontario Security License.

● Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.

● Valid G license and own reliable transportation for yard patrol and daily commute.

● High school diploma or equivalent.

● Strong communication skills.

● Ability to work flexible, rotational shifts.

● Team-oriented and professional.

● Clear background check required.

  • Prior experience in law enforcement, military service, or professional security roles is preferred.
  • Knowledge of surveillance systems such as CCTV is advantageous.
  • Experience in conflict management and loss prevention techniques is beneficial.
  • Strong observational skills combined with excellent communication abilities are essential for success in this role.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.20-$20.00 per hour
