Combo/Plow Operator

Summary: Ontario Pavement Products Group (OPPG), a division of Miller Paving Limited, has immediate openings for Winter Works Combo/Plow Operators.  The winter season runs yearly from October until April, weather dependent. Responsibilities:

• Safe and efficient operation of spreader, plow wing, combo unit or tow to perform the clearing of local roads as per the contract requirements
• Maintain accurate documentation including but not limited to, fuel reports, safety reports and hours of service
• Maintain/clean equipment and conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs as required
• Operate specialized equipment, including winter equipment, as trained and as required
• Ability to understand performance requirements of the contract, route map and sand/salt application rate etc.
• Carry out road maintenance activities, facility maintenance and yard maintenance as required

Requirements:

• DZ or AZ license with a clean driver's abstract and ability to drive manual transmission
• Previous experience in winter works operations, considered an asset
• Ability to operate winter combination units
• Available to respond to call-ins within thirty minutes
• Ability to remain flexible with shift schedules, and extended hours (evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays)
• Mechanical knowledge and ability to perform minor repairs as required
• Appreciation for a high level of efficient and quality work
• Effective communication (written and verbal)
