We combine local tutoring with global expertise, empowering students from Grade 1 to Grade 12 to strengthen their skills in Math, Reading, and Guided Digital Literacy.

Our programs are delivered in-person at our Labrador City learning centre, providing small-group classes in a safe, supportive, and interactive environment.

Position Overview

Hive Academy is seeking a qualified and dedicated Math Tutor to deliver classroom-based instruction to students from Grades 1–12 at our Labrador City campus.

You will be responsible for teaching mathematics in a structured, engaging, and supportive environment — helping students build strong foundations, confidence, and enjoyment in math learning.

This role is in-person only (no remote teaching).

Key Responsibilities

• Teach small-group math classes (8–12 students) according to Hive Academy's structured curriculum.
• Deliver engaging lessons across a range of math topics, from foundational numeracy to high school algebra and geometry.
• Administer quizzes, tests, and workbook reviews, ensuring student progress and comprehension.
• Provide individualized attention and support to struggling learners.
• Record attendance, grades, and progress in coordination with the Academic Coordinator.
• Communicate regularly with parents and staff regarding student improvement.
• Maintain classroom safety, discipline, and positive learning energy.
• Follow Hive Academy's academic standards and teaching procedures.

Qualifications & Requirements

Mandatory:

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Math Education, Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Minimum 5 years of teaching or tutoring experience in mathematics (school, college, or learning centre).
• Strong command of the Canadian math curriculum and ability to teach multiple grade levels.
• Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
• Must pass a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and physically based in Labrador City, NL (or willing to relocate).

Assets:

• Background in Kumon, Singapore Math, or other mastery-based teaching methods.
• CPR/First Aid certification.
• Warm, encouraging, and professional teaching style.

Work Schedule

• Monday – Saturday: 2:30 PM – 6:30 PM
• Sunday: As needed (paid at regular rate if scheduled)
• Summer (June–August): Extended hours for summer academic programs
• Hourly Rate: To be Discussed
• Employment Type: Part-Time; follows Newfoundland & Labrador Labour Standards.
