The Ministry of Energy and Resources develops, coordinates and implements policies and programs to promote the growth and responsible development of Saskatchewan's natural resource industries. The ministry operates as the primary regulatory authority for the oil and gas industry and ensures competitive royalty systems, regulations and policies for all natural resource sectors. The ministry also plays an important role in promoting Saskatchewan's diverse resource potential to investors around the world.

The Strategic Planning and Initiatives Branch is seeking a proactive individual with excellent communication and relationship management skills to fill the role of Strategic Planning and Performance Consultant.

You will be part of the Planning and Performance Unit where the priorities are to manage projects and processes associated with the Government of Saskatchewan's planning and accountability framework, support ministry leadership and individual branches and divisions through the delivery of annual plans and reports and achievement of ministry goals.

Reporting to the Director of Strategic Management Services, you will be responsible to:

  • Support the development and facilitation of the ministry's strategic planning and reporting functions including the annual business plan, annual report and cascading planning model;
  • Facilitate engagement of ministry staff, building consensus and exercising sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential and controversial issues. This includes the coordination of the ministry's environmental scan, performance measures and risk assessments;
  • Lead and conduct in-depth research and analysis and make recommendations on the effectiveness of programs offered by the ministry;
  • Deliver internal training related to planning requirements and opportunities;
  • Build and foster professional relationships with ministry staff and leadership teams by understanding their needs, offering flexibility and being a trusted partner.

The ideal candidate will bring strong relationship development skills and demonstrate integrity and professionalism, understand strategic planning and program reviews, adapt quickly to changing priorities and directions and communicates clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally.

Typically, the skills and knowledge required for this position will have been gained through a post-secondary degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
