Hazmat Consultant

McCuaig & Associates Engineering Ltd. is seeking a hazardous materials consultant to join our team at our Head Office in Burnaby, BC. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in hazardous materials collection and reporting.

About the Job:

• Conduct air monitoring and inspections during asbestos and lead abatement projects
• Responsible for or coordinate hazmat sample collection
• Conduct and prepare site inspection reports
• Analyze asbestos air samples
• Conduct hazardous materials surveys and assessments
• Interpret findings and prepare technical reports
• Maintain air monitoring and sampling equipment
• Provide recommendations to meet WorkSafeBC regulations
• Ensure MAE's hazmat department's policies and procedures meet or exceed industry safety requirements.

About You:

• Degree, diploma or certificate in occupational health and safety or other applicable areas is an asset
• At least five years working experience in hazmat assessment
• WorkSafe BC Level S Certification
• AHERA Building Inspector certificate is an asset
• Ability to freely travel to all points of the Lower Mainland as business requires
• Ability to wear PPE such as a respirator, hard hat, gloves, eyewear without restrictions
• Ability to climb a ladder
• Strong leadership, technical writing skills, and verbal communication skills including presentation skills
• Excellent attention to detail and strong work ethic
• Ability to engage in creative and critical solutions independently and in a team environment
• Check own work and work of others for accuracy and completeness
• Manage team to meet project budget and schedule
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and adapt to shifting priorities
• Receive and offer constructive criticism and communicate professionally
• Scale process, design and effort as required by various roles on projects
• Hold valid driver's license and be willing to undergo security screening
