Hazmat Consultant

McCuaig & Associates Engineering Ltd. is seeking a hazardous materials consultant to join our team at our Head Office in Burnaby, BC. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in hazardous materials collection and reporting.
About the Job:
- Conduct air monitoring and inspections during asbestos and lead abatement projects
- Responsible for or coordinate hazmat sample collection
- Conduct and prepare site inspection reports
- Analyze asbestos air samples
- Conduct hazardous materials surveys and assessments
- Interpret findings and prepare technical reports
- Maintain air monitoring and sampling equipment
- Provide recommendations to meet WorkSafeBC regulations
- Ensure MAE's hazmat department's policies and procedures meet or exceed industry safety requirements.
About You:
- Degree, diploma or certificate in occupational health and safety or other applicable areas is an asset
- At least five years working experience in hazmat assessment
- WorkSafe BC Level S Certification
- AHERA Building Inspector certificate is an asset
- Ability to freely travel to all points of the Lower Mainland as business requires
- Ability to wear PPE such as a respirator, hard hat, gloves, eyewear without restrictions
- Ability to climb a ladder
- Strong leadership, technical writing skills, and verbal communication skills including presentation skills
- Excellent attention to detail and strong work ethic
- Ability to engage in creative and critical solutions independently and in a team environment
- Check own work and work of others for accuracy and completeness
- Manage team to meet project budget and schedule
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and adapt to shifting priorities
- Receive and offer constructive criticism and communicate professionally
- Scale process, design and effort as required by various roles on projects
- Hold valid driver's license and be willing to undergo security screening
