About the Role

The Enterprise Z Security function within the ETS environment is responsible for engineering, managing, and maintaining mainframe authentication and authorization systems.

We are seeking a seasoned
RACF Security Engineer
to join the Operations and Support team. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with security engineers and business technology groups to deliver robust mainframe security operations and support.

This is a remote role requiring partial overlap with
New York working hours
and includes periodic
on‑call responsibilities
to support maintenance and resolve security incidents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior security administrator responsible for mainframe user and application access support, project tasks, and operational activities using
    RACF
    ,
    zSecure
    , and internally developed tools.
  • Collaborate with various technology teams (Developers, Systems Programmers, DBAs, CICS/MQ Support, etc.) to provide mainframe security support.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate security policies and best practices during project implementations.
  • Develop automation scripts, tools, utilities, reports, and batch programs to improve operational efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot issues and track incidents through resolution across teams and user groups.
  • Participate in on‑call rotation, addressing after‑hours questions and issues as required.
  • Work with the Security Management team to review security proposals and evaluate technical feasibility.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with
    5+ years of relevant mainframe experience
    .
  • Advanced hands-on experience with
    RACF
    configuration and supporting tools such as
    zSecure
    .
  • Working knowledge of
    digital certificates
    ,
    Kerberos
    ,
    SSL
    , and
    SSH
    .
  • Ability to program in at least one mainframe batch or reporting language (e.g.,
    C, JCL, CARLA, REXX, CLIST, ISPF, SAS
    ).
  • Strong familiarity with z/OS utilities and environments (e.g.,
    ISPF, TSO, SDSF, JES
    ).
  • Experience with database technologies such as
    DB2, Sybase, SQL
    .
  • Strong understanding of security principles and technologies.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong team‑oriented mindset with the ability to foster a collaborative culture.
  • Willingness to participate in weekend and after‑hours
    on‑call rotation
