About the Junior Accountant role
Reporting to the Assistant Controller – Reporting, the Junior Accountant provides accounting and administrative support to the Finance team. The position assists with data entry, reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting activities, primarily for ANBL but may support CNB as required.
This is a developmental role, designed to build technical accounting experience and knowledge of Finance processes in a shared-service environment. The Junior Accountant contributes to the integrity of financial reporting by ensuring accuracy, consistency, and completeness of financial data, while gaining exposure to IFRS principles and internal control processes.
Additional Responsibilities
- Prepare routine journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Assist in compiling financial data for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting activities.
- Support audit preparation by organizing supporting documents and schedules, ensuring proper documentation and accuracy.
- Collaborate with AP, AR, and Payroll to ensure accurate and timely financial data.
- Maintain organized documentation for accounting processes, supporting audit readiness and policy compliance.
- Support the Senior Accountants and Accountants with ad-hoc analysis and data validation.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statement support schedules and reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the accounting team by identifying opportunities to streamline reconciliations and month-end processes.
What do you need to be successful?
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Business, or Finance.
- 1–3 years of accounting or finance experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to learn quickly.
- Proficiency with Excel and financial systems; Microsoft GP and/or Microsoft D365 an asset.

Language competencies
- Bilingualism in both official languages is an asset, but not required
Work location:
- The Retail Operations Centre is located in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
- The successful candidate must be based in New Brunswick, remote work is possible.
- Semi-regular travel for meetings and project work may be required.
