Ghent Landscape is currently seeking a Crew Leader for one of our winter sidewalk crews. Suitable team members are motivated individuals that enjoy working outdoors on a daily basis and are comfortable working evenings and on call shifts. Must have a valid G license in order to drive a company vehicle. The successful candidate will report directly to the Sidewalk Supervisor.

The ideal candidate must be available on call 24/7 for snow removal season (Now - April 15). This position could lead to full-time year round employment. Full-time work available immediately on one of our landscape maintenance or landscape construction crews.

Salary: $25-$35/hr, based on experience and position offered

Responsibilities

  • Clear snow on sidewalks, walkways, entrances, stairs, etc.
  • Apply salt or ice melt products as indicated on site plans
  • Drive a company vehicle throughout a planned snow route
  • Responsible for crew's overall quality and quantity of work performed
  • Train, coach and motivate other crew members
  • Fill on-site salt bins with bags of salt/ice melt
  • Basic equipment maintenance, fueling and greasing
  • Interact with clients and coworkers in a professional and courteous manner
  • Communicate with Supervisor to ensure job satisfaction is achieved
  • Hand in all paperwork on a daily basis
  • Other tasks aside from snow removal may be required, depending on winter season
  • Ensure compliance with company health and safety training and reporting requirements
  • Required to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
  • Must be willing to work nights and on call shifts
  • Other duties will be assigned as required

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Previous snow removal experience
  • Prior leadership experience
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions
  • Must have a valid G license
  • Great communication skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Must be punctual and personable
  • Must obtain WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety Awareness training
