Scope

The Surrey Nature Centre (operated by the City of Surrey¿s Urban Forestry section) offers nature-based programs and events for schools and the public with the goal of increasing awareness, appreciation and stewardship of Surrey¿s urban forest. This auxiliary position is based on a predicted 35 hours work week (Monday to Friday) from Monday, June 15 to September 4, 2026.

Responsibilities

As a Summer Day Camp Leader at the Surrey Nature Centre you will: Deliver full-day, nature-themed day camps to children ages 6 ¿ 12 years old. Maintain program areas and equipment. Follow City of Surrey Policy and Procedures. Provide day camp participants with an active, safe and stimulating environment. Perform other job related duties as required.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will have experience working with school-aged children; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with program participants, volunteers, staff, and the public; and have a creative and enthusiastic approach to their work.

Successful candidates will also meet the following requirements: Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by 1 year of related work experience, or an equivalent acceptable combination of training and experience. Current Emergency First Aid or acceptable equivalent. High 5 certification or (willingness to obtain.)

Hourly Rate: $23.85
