JOB SUMMARY

Reporting through the Child and Family Services (CFS) Office Manager to the Finance Director, the Finance Analyst plays a key role in the financial lifecycle, directly impacting the maintenance of financial records and reports. The Financial Analyst will work closely with internal and external partners to meet financial deliverables. This role requires an individual with a financial or business background, a proven ability to understand and work with financial data, with a keen sense to problem solve and drive solutions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare monthly financial reporting to external partners, ensuring alignment and reconciliation with internal financial record.
  • Develop a solid understanding of budgets and program parameters to inform and support business decisions.
  • Contribute to financial performance reviews through analysis and reporting.
  • Prepare journal entries as required, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Support the annual financial lifecycle, inclusive of budget development, submission and ongoing monthly financial performance reviews
  • Assist with audit preparation and coordination to ensure timely and accurate completion.
  • Provide support with invoice processing and purchase order lifecycle management as needed.
  • Perform account reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Participate in process improvements and the development of financial policies and procedures.
  • Provide backup support to Finance Coordinator as required.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all financial and organizational matters.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned to support organizational objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related discipline.
  • Post secondary in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field, combined with a minimum of 5+ years in progressive accounting or analyst experience.
  • Formal Training and/or proven experience with SAGE software and Microsoft Office programs, or similar.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Accounting Principles and annual financial lifecycle.
  • Working knowledge and experience with First Nations culture, traditions and values is considered an asset.
  • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with Government funding is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Cree or Dene is an asset.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Clear Child Intervention Record Check
  • Class 5 Drivers License and Clean Drivers Abstract
  • Available to work evenings and weekends if required.
