ABOUT THE ROLE

We're seeking a technically strong, detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support the financial health of Suncoast Built and Suncoast Enclosures across Canada and the U.S. This hands-on role involves full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, compliance, and cross-functional collaboration in a dynamic, multi-entity environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

As a Senior Accountant, you'll manage day-to-day accounting activities, contribute to accurate financial reporting, and collaborate across teams to ensure compliance, efficiency, and strong decision-making support.

Core Accounting & Compliance

  • Perform full-cycle accounting, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
  • Complete month-end reconciliations (prepaids, deposits, capital assets) and bank reconciliations
  • Maintain and update capital asset schedules, applying depreciation accurately
  • Prepare and file GST/PST returns; assist with U.S. sales and use tax filings and compliance
  • Monitor changes in accounting standards and support regulatory compliance
  • Assist with year-end processes, including working papers and preparation for external review engagements

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for internal stakeholders, including branch-level reporting and cash flow statements
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes, including variance analysis
  • Conduct inventory and expense reviews with department leads
  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis to inform operational decisions

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Oversee and review accounts payable, including vendor payments and credit card transaction reviews
  • Manage accounts receivable to ensure timely collections
  • Provide oversight and support to administrative staff on invoice coding and approvals

Cross-Functional Support & Process Improvement

  • Assist with payroll review across three companies (CDN & USD payroll, multi-provincial and multi-state)
  • Liaise with internal teams to ensure accurate coding and expense tracking
  • Review and maintain insurance and business registration documentation
  • Support WCB requirements (operations in 4 provinces)
  • Handle and record multi-currency transactions
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency
  • Assist with property management accounting as needed
  • Provide mentorship or support to junior accounting staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

We're seeking someone who is technically proficient, proactive, and comfortable in a collaborative, fast-moving environment with a mix of hands-on experience and a forward-thinking mindset.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • Pursuing or holding CPA designation

  • 3–5 years public practice / accounting firm experience
  • 3–5 years progressive accounting experience (ideally multi-entity or cross-border)
  • Proficient in Excel and accounting software; QuickBooks and Dynamics 365 Business Central an asset
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian tax (GST/PST) and multi-currency transactions
  • Detail-oriented, organized, excellent communicator, able to manage priorities and deadlines
