The Opportunity:
Scope of the position
We are looking for a seasoned leader who can collaborate with other discipline Directors and project leads to ensure the team, Operations projects, and RSL resources are well managed. Using your crisp, informed decision-making process to solve complex logistical challenges, you will be responsible for building a world-class Operations function.
The role will be based at RSL's headquarters in South Burnaby and will report to the CEO.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for supporting the organization's overall strategy, including growth and transformational initiatives.
- Liaison with other executives to make decisions for operational activities while providing input into strategic goals.
- Collaborate with the Director of Product Sales and Supply Chain, Distribution Managers, and Branch Managers to maximize the efficiency of the business's operations.
- Develop operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements; develop, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures; develop processes for receiving the product, equipment utilization, inventory management and shipping.
- Grow the efficiency of existing organizational processes and procedures to enhance and sustain the organization's internal capacity.
- Actively pursue strategic and operational objectives to improve quality, productivity, and efficiency.
- Build and sustain relationships among high-profile external stakeholders and internal leadership to ensure cultural change.
- Drive effective succession planning processes for key operations positions, including investment in the development of the team's key talent.
- Oversee facilities (including maintenance, tenant management, custodial management and security).
- Devise ways to optimize inventory control procedures.
- Select and track important operational KPIs.
- Assist with analyzing data to anticipate future needs.
- Lead and motivate staff to meet customer service requirements.
- Develop or implement procedures or systems to evaluate or select suppliers.
- Promote an organizational culture that is customer-centric, professional, and respected as a 'great place to work.'
Skills and Qualifications
- Ten plus years' practical hands-on experience managing Operations teams.
- Any combination of education or experience that would be equivalent to a Business Degree (Management/ Operations/Engineering/ Lean Six Sigma methodologies).
- Project Management experience an asset.
- Strong understanding of lean methodologies and experience in operations planning and forecasting.
Must Haves
- You are an execution machine and results-driven with experience working in distribution.
- You are dedicated and passionate about bringing rapid systemic improvement to warehouse operations.
- Excellent relationship management, strategic development, and change management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and lead strategic initiatives within a distributed organization with multiple stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to translate conceptual ideas into operational requirements.
- A strong foundation of business operations experience, along with the ability to develop and interpret metrics/data to inform decision-making and planning.
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on quality and best practices.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Proactive, highly organized and extremely detail-oriented.
- Ability to see things through and manage tasks and projects to completion.
