As a Senior Backend Engineer II at Mistplay, you will hold a leading position in steering our backend systems and enriching the overall functionality of our platform. Drawing on your advanced skills and experience, you will be responsible for quickly crafting and maintenance of highly robust, scalable software products to support our dynamic gaming ecosystem. You'll work hand-in-hand with a talented and diverse team of software engineers, product managers, and designers, gaining a deep understanding of our product-driven initiatives to drive the business, and actively contributing to our engineering culture.

What You'll Do At Mistplay

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect, develop, implement, and maintain complex backend features and services which meet industry standards and engineering best practices.
• Carefully integrate backend services with frontend features, focusing on enhancing user engagement and enriching the user experience.
• Take a proactive role in identifying potential risks and dependencies within our projects, developing and implementing strategies to mitigate them effectively.
• Break down and delegate complex technical projects into manageable tasks, ensuring timely execution in line with project milestones.
• Partner with our DevOps team to optimize our CI/CD processes, thereby guaranteeing efficient, reliable code deployment to production as fast as possible.
• Observing, monitoring the health of the software systems to have visibility on the underlying performance of the systems, in case of anomalies, taking proactive measures to mitigate them as soon as possible.
• Lead code review sessions, driving the growth and development of our codebase in a scalable, maintainable manner that supports performance goals.
• Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning within our backend engineering team, leading regular sessions to discuss best practices and emerging technologies.

What You'll Bring To Mistplay

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of experience as a Backend Engineer, with a proven track record of managing complex technical initiatives in an engineering driven product-centric environment.
• Expert knowledge in backend programming languages and frameworks, especially , Typescript and other JavaScript-based technologies.
• A deep understanding of non-relational databases like AWS DynamoDB, coupled with best practices associated with data storage and retrieval.
• Solid experience with cloud technologies, particularly in AWS. Experience or sound knowledge on technologies like SNS, SQS, Lambda, S3, and Kinesis.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture along with experience in transforming monoliths into microservices.
• An exceptional ability to work as part of a team, and to collaborate effectively with diverse cross-functional teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to lead technical discussions, and keep them on track and focused.
• Demonstrable analytical, data-driven problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and address backend development challenges as they arise.

Nice To Have

• Experience with Python/Golang.
• Experience in relational databases.
• Familiarity with Agile or Scrum environments.
• Experience with scalable API design and development, either using RESTful paradigms.
• Experience or knowledge of running APIs on services like ECR/EKS.
• Frontend development experience with a focus on Android or Progressive WebApp technology would be a plus.
• A keen interest in keeping up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in backend development to continue driving innovation within our technology. An adopter of Gen AI technologies would be a plus.
