Approximately 75.0 bi-weekly hours

ONA07 $44.70/hr $63.21/hr

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Reporting to the Clinical Managers, the Care Facilitator provides leadership and organizational support to ensure effective and efficient day to day operations and optimize patient flow through the multiple clinical units
• The Care Facilitator supports the nursing staff to work collaboratively with the interprofessional team to enhance patient care and supports the nurses to foster a culture of continuous performance improvement.
• Assign patients to appropriate care giver to meet patient care needs
• Adjust staff workload in response to changing unit conditions
• Provide support to nursing staff as they deal with unexpected unit events, and family needs
• Respond to patient complaints and collaborate with the health care team to resolve them
• Collect data regarding standards of care on the unit, incident reports, near misses, waiting times to be reported through the appropriate channels in order to improve patient care
• Participate in continuous performance improvement, unit audits, committees, etc. as required

REQUIREMENTS:

• Registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
• Minimum of 3-5 years recent relevant clinical experience in Labour and Delivery; Obstetrical Operating Room, Post-Partum; and Special Care Nursery (Level 2 or higher)
• Current BCLS, Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) and Fetal Health Surveillance in Labour (FHSL) certification
• Perinatal education/courses e.g. Breast Feeding; Perinatal Loss, Labour Support; High Risk Antepartum; ACoRN; MOREOB
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, problem solving and decision making skills
• Demonstrates knowledge and ability in conflict prevention and resolution
• Demonstrated leadership and organizational abilities and is able to apply in a clinical setting
• Demonstrated computer competency; Experience with electronic clinical documentation

PREFERRED:

• Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) Membership
• Certified Perioperative Course
• NRP Instructor; FHSL Instructor
• Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) Perinatal Certification
• Membership in Specialty related Professional Association
• Formal Training in LEAN Management principles
