The position of Driver / Waste Technician suits someone who is hardworking, flexible and enjoys a variety of work experiences. The main aspect of this position (approx. 70% of the time) is Driving trucks; either picking up from clients, dropping off materials at receivers, or working at household hazardous waste event days.

During times when there are no pickups (approx. 30% of the time), you will be on-site performing the duties of a Waste Technician; handling both non-hazardous and hazardous waste materials. As a Waste Technician you will involved with shipping/receiving, processing, sorting, and re-packaging materials.

Job Location: 106 William Henderson Dr., Bath, ON

Responsibilities:

  • Truck driving (AZ & DZ trucks)
  • Loading/unloading materials (physical lifting required up to 50lbs.)
  • Shipping/Receiving
  • Managing Inventories of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes

  • Sorting, identification and labeling of waste materials

  • Prepare/review shipping documents

  • Maintain compliance documentation

  • Assist with household hazardous waste collection events (various sites)

  • Assist with processing activities in transfer station.

  • Follow all health & safety requirements

  • Monday to Friday with some Saturday work

General Qualifications & Skills:

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills

  • Valid AZ or DZ license (or close to obtaining AZ)

  • Responsible, reliable and self-starter

  • Physically fit

  • Mechanical aptitude

  • Environmentally conscious person

  • Knowledge of WHIMS and strong safety practices

  • Forklift experience (An asset)

  • Current first aid certificate (An asset)
