Position Overview

The Paralegal is responsible to nurture our business through providing litigation support, conducting searches to locate debtors, drafting and maintaining legal files, arranging payment plans and schedules, and attending court as required. The Paralegal reports to the Senior Manager, Legal Department.

Responsibilities

  • Provide litigation support to meet the needs of TCR and its clients
  • Conduct searches to locate debtors
  • Draft and interpret legal documents including templates
  • Organize and maintain legal files
  • Contact debtors to negotiate payment plans and payment schedules in accordance with the debtor's financial situation and our clients' directives
  • Draft pleadings and attend court as required
  • Perform administrative tasks and clerical duties as required
  • File documents with any applicable court systems
  • Coordinate and provide support to our regional lawyer as required

Requirements

  • Must hold a P1 License and be in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
  • Paralegal diploma program from accredited college
  • Experience in the collections industry is an asset
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills with attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize a high volume of tasks and competing priorities
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and confidentiality
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
  • Ability to follow instructions with minimal supervision and take initiative as required
  • Extremely organized, and detail orientated with the ability to anticipate requests and be pro-active.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $39,043.84-$70,573.67 per year
