Insight Global is hiring a
Web Performance Engineer
for a large enterprise health & wellness retail client in Vancouver, BC. This role focuses on ensuring exceptional speed and responsiveness across web, iOS, and Android platforms. You will define performance budgets, monitor KPIs, and drive improvements that enhance user experience at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor real-time and synthetic performance data to identify issues and trends.
  • Troubleshoot and perform root-cause analysis across frontend, backend, and network layers.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to build fast-loading pages and screens.
  • Optimize caching, content delivery, and asset-loading strategies.
  • Conduct performance testing and profiling using tools like Lighthouse, WebPageTest, and platform-specific profilers.
  • Work with API, CDN, and backend teams to improve responsiveness.
  • Contribute to automation, observability, and performance-focused CI/CD processes.
  • Share best practices and recommend tools and architectural improvements.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 7+ years as a frontend performance engineer.
  • Expertise with RUM (Real User Monitoring) data.
  • Proven ability to identify issues, implement solutions, and deploy to production.
  • Strong understanding of performance metrics and Core Web Vitals (page load, responsiveness, app startup time, frame rate, stability).
  • Proficiency with debugging tools: Chrome DevTools, Lighthouse, WebPageTest.
  • Working knowledge of modern web technologies and native mobile architectures.
  • Experience with CDNs, caching strategies, and cloud environments (AWS preferred).
  • Familiarity with web architecture and DevOps practices.
  • Comfortable with logs, monitoring tools, and observability platforms.
  • Experience supporting high-traffic e-commerce or large-scale customer-facing systems.

Nice to Have

  • Xcode Instruments and Android Studio Profilers.
  • Mobile platform experience.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and performance automation.
  • Exposure to AI-driven performance optimization.
  • Python scripting skills.
