Job Title: Accounting Consultant
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Consultant for a 12-month contract to lead a series of strategic initiatives. The role involves transitioning from quarterly to monthly reporting, converting ASPE to IFRS reporting, and transforming corporate finance processes to enhance operational efficiency. The consultant will work towards building a scalable, digitally enabled corporate finance function with strong internal controls and streamlined reporting. There is potential for further engagement in upcoming GL system upgrades.
Responsibilities
- Establish and manage project plans, defining requirements and goals to transform the corporate finance function.
- Achieve a 5-day month-end close by formalizing and stabilizing the process across business units.
- Perform analysis and lead conversion from ASPE reporting to IFRS reporting.
- Establish processes for evolving reporting requirements, including climate initiatives.
- Create robust documentation of processes and controls to support stability and audit readiness.
- Provide recommendations and implement process improvements to automate manual entries and reporting.
- Identify and automate repetitive tasks such as invoice processing and reconciliations.
- Implement workflow tools for approvals and audit trails to ensure compliance.
- Maintain strong internal controls with well-documented policies and procedures.
- Align and leverage GL/ERP capabilities with business needs.
- Enable self-service BI using tools like Power BI and Tableau for real-time analytics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and adoption of new tools and processes.
- Lead training, documentation, and communication efforts to support transformation initiatives.
- Prepare corporate finance for ERP/GL replacement projects, including requirement establishment and readiness.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
- CPA designation.
- 7-10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, preferably in asset management or private markets.
- Strong financial reporting skills in GAAP, IFRS, and ASPE standards.
- Technical excellence with accounting software and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Proven experience with ERP systems like SAP S/4HANA, Oracle Cloud, or Workday Financials.
- Strong understanding of General Ledger and corporate finance processing.
- Hands-on experience with automation tools for tasks like reconciliations and journal entries.
- Strong grasp of internal controls and compliance (e.g., SOX, IFRS).
- Experience with business intelligence tools like Power BI.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with the selection and implementation of new general ledger systems is an asset.
- Experience in financial modeling, process improvement, and financial services.
- Experience with multi-currency operations and regulatory reporting.
- Project management and forecasting skills.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid role, requiring 3 days a week in the office. The role supports groups such as Controllership, Global Premises, and FP&A. Working hours are from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
