Albion Animal Hospital is a small animal practice in Maple Ridge, BC. We are looking to fill one position for Veterinary Assistant. Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Answering phones, booking appointments, and checking clients in and out
  • Creating a warm, welcoming, and professional experience for patients and pet parents
  • General housekeeping duties including maintaining cleanliness of the reception area, pet holding areas, and common areas
  • Taking patient vital signs such as weight, temperature, blood pressure, and respiratory rate
  • Assisting the on-duty veterinarian during examinations, treatments, and surgeries
  • Providing front-line customer service and sales support
  • Assisting in handling mail, package deliveries, and general administrative tasks
  • Issuing invoices, processing payments, and updating client accounts
  • Ensuring accurate collection and maintenance of medical records and patient information

Required Skills:

  • Strong customer-service focus and ability to work well with people and animals
  • Comfortable using computers and veterinary software systems
  • Ability to work proactively and efficiently without constant supervision
  • Ability to properly restrain small animals safely and appropriately
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong workflow and time-management coordination
  • Ability to administer medications under supervision from a veterinarian
  • Comfortable assisting with examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures
  • Basic understanding of animal anatomy and veterinary medical terminology
  • Knowledge of sanitation, disinfection, and infection control procedures

Experience & Education (Preferred):

  • 1 year experience in an animal hospital or animal care facility (preferred)
  • Veterinary Assistant diploma or equivalent training (preferred)

  • The hospital is located in Maple Ridge, BC. We are looking for someone who can reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $17.85 per hour
