Summary
Infoway is seeking a dynamic and visionary Product Director with a deep understanding of healthcare data and its use for interoperability. This individual will have ultimate accountability for the product's success, driving both the product strategy, product management, technology development and the business development/program management aspects to ensure widespread adoption and long-term impact. This is a leadership role requiring a strategic thinker with a proven track record of delivering complex, high-impact initiatives.
Key Products
CA Core+
CA Core+ is Canada's national set of HL7 FHIR profiles designed to enable consistent, secure, and interoperable health data exchange across provincial and territorial systems. It provides standardized data elements, value sets, and implementation guidelines that form the backbone of pan-Canadian interoperability and support clinical workflows. Developed collaboratively by Canada Health Infoway and stakeholders and aligned to the Canadian Institute for Health Information's (CIHI) pan-Canadian Health Data Content Framework (pCHDCF), CA Core+ ensures alignment with international standards while addressing Canada-specific requirements for scalable, conformance-tested solutions.
Major Responsibilities
Expertise information is collected that details each key accountability to describe the nature of the work at a high level.
Strategic Product Leadership
- Define and articulate a clear vision, strategy, and roadmap for assigned product(s), aligning with Infoway's overall mission and objectives, including the Shared Pan-Canadian Interoperability Roadmap.
- Secure buy-in from stakeholders and build consensus across diverse groups, including federal, provincial, territorial, and Indigenous Communities (jurisdictions), technology vendors, and healthcare providers on the shared vision and approach.
- Establish clear performance metrics and track progress towards product goals articulated as business outcomes.
Partnerships and Business Development
- Develop and foster strong working relationships with key external stakeholders, including the Canadian Institute for Health Information, to continue to enhance the alignment between data content standards and interoperability specifications.
- Support and lead aspects of the creation of external operational governance for standards interoperability products to drive alignment between Infoway and Canadian jurisdictions.
- Partner with Infoway accountable staff and cultivate strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, including federal government entities, jurisdictions, vendors, and health system providers to foster adoption and integration of assigned product(s).
- Leverage a deep understanding of the interoperability landscape in Canada to develop a comprehensive business development strategy to promote assigned product(s).
- Thoughtfully engage to expand the reach of assigned product(s) across jurisdictions and with the vendor community, with a strong focus on ensuring that technical implementations support the clinical and business needs.
Product Development (Standards and Technology)
- Lead the implementation of and manage a central product development intake process, in alignment with external governance.
- Clearly work to articulate and promote the product definition for CA Core+ and its alignment with other standards, including Canadian Institute for Health Information's (CIHI) pan-Canadian Health Data Content Framework (pCHDCF) and Canadian Core Data for Interoperability (CACDI).
- Liaise with Infoway's technical staff to ensure that the product development for assigned product(s) meets the stated objectives and aligns with the product roadmap.
- Drive continuous focus on the value proposition for target stakeholder(s), including clinicians and vendors.
- Understand the interdependencies between assigned product(s) and interoperability building blocks and ensure that the roadmap continues to evolve in alignment.
- Drive innovation and explore emerging technologies to enhance the functionality and scalability of assigned product(s).
Release Management and Execution
- Oversee all aspects of the release, including defining product release scope, signing off on requirements, monitoring execution and post-release evaluation.
- Identify and mitigate risks to ensure successful project delivery.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing regular updates and reporting on project progress through internal and external project governance structures.
Education
- Undergraduate degree, preferably in healthcare or business-related field.
- MBA, or other related graduate-level education, preferred.
- Project Management certification an asset
Qualifications
Experience
- 10+ years of experience in healthcare IT or a related field, with a focus on interoperability and digital health solutions.
- 7+ years of experience in a leadership role, managing complex programs, projects and initiatives with multiple stakeholders.
- 5+ years of experience in product management, delivery and execution, with a demonstrated understanding of how to deliver and implement products from conception to initial pilot and evolution.
- 5+ years of experience in data content standards or terminology, familiar with applicable Health IT standards (such as HL7, IHE, SNOMED CT, pCLOCD, etc.). Familiarity with concepts such as such as IHE integration profiles, FHIR profiling, implementation guides, terminology artifacts is considered an asset.
- Superior ability to develop product roadmaps and program delivery plans to execute against stated objectives.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire teams, build consensus, and drive strategic initiatives in a complex environment.
- Phenomenal written and verbal communications skills. Tactically, excellent preparation and presentation skills to facilitate engagements with executive audiences, and experience in writing formal briefing notes and proposals and explaining and articulating end user requirements.
- Self-starter: High level of initiative and self-direction displayed.
- Understanding of the healthcare technology landscape as it relates to the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and the Hospital Information System (HIS) industries is an asset.
- Experience working with or interacting with provincial or territorial government stakeholders, is an asset.
- Experience supporting clinical change management and adoption activities, including workflow analysis and training, is an asset.
- Hands on experience with system integrations (e.g., APIs), documentation and implementation guides, is an asset.
- Some travel may be required.
