We are a small but growing home renovation company based in Halifax, NS, specializing in high-quality residential projects — including secondary suite conversions, framing, drywall, flooring, trim work, deck construction, and more. As our demand increases, we're looking for a motivated and dependable team member to join us on a contract basis.

Position Overview:

We're seeking a carpenter or renovation labourer who can support a variety of home improvement projects. The right candidate will have a solid understanding of residential renovations or a strong desire to learn. You should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, demonstrate good judgment and critical thinking on job sites, and be willing to grow with a small, hands-on crew.

Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada. We do not sponsor employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with loading and unloading materials and equipment at job sites.
  • Perform general maintenance and cleaning of work areas to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Follow instructions from supervisors and project managers to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Framing and structural carpentry
  • Hanging and finishing drywall
  • Flooring installation (various materials)
  • Window and door installation
  • Deck building and exterior carpentry
  • Trim work and finish carpentry
  • Demolition, insulation, and general prep/cleanup tasks
  • Participation in secondary suite construction and conversions

Qualifications:

  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Previous experience in construction or labor-intensive roles is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the day.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety practices.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well within a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and take on various responsibilities as needed.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to think critically, troubleshoot, and contribute ideas
  • Willing to work with and grow alongside a small, supportive team
  • Physically fit and comfortable with hands-on labour
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must have CSA-approved work boots
  • Basic hand tools are an asset
  • Strong motivation, reliability, and a positive attitude are essential

Compensation:

  • $25–$30/hr for experienced tradespeople with relevant renovation experience
  • $20–$24/hr for less experienced applicants or those new to the industry (training provided for the right candidate)
