Job Description/ Position overview:
We are currently seeking a Junior Safety Advisor to join our team. With the primary goal of establishing a safe workplace, you will be responsible for traveling throughout the United States and Canada promoting a safe working environment by advising on safety measures, conducting risk assessments, enforcing preventative measures and fostering a culture of attention to health and safety.
Job Responsibilities:
- Participate in workplace audits and investigations related to safety concerns, incidents, and accidents.
- Conduct workplace inspections to ensure that equipment, materials, and production processes do not pose safety or health risks to employees.
- Implement comprehensive health and safety programs, including standard operating procedures, policies, and training, aimed at reducing risk, enhancing worker health and safety, and promoting a strong occupational health and safety culture.
- Communicate with, engage, and influence decision-makers and workers to ensure adherence to health and safety legislation and regulations.
- Assist with management of return-to-work programs that facilitate the safe and timely reintegration of injured or ill employees back into the workforce.
- Document control and management
- Ad hoc safety related tasks within the normal scope of service of a junior safety advisor.
Qualifications:
- National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certification (preferred).
- Knowledge of OSHA/ OHSA legislation and procedures.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
- Must have valid passport and be able to travel to the United States
- Valid drivers license and drivers abstract
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time
- Completion of Occupational Health & Safety program or equivalent.
