Our organization is an integrated system of hospitals: Whitehorse General Hospital (68 beds), Watson Lake Community Hospital (6 beds) and Dawson City Community Hospital (6 beds).
The General Labourer will be responsible for providing labour support and duties in supporting the Facilities team at Whitehorse General Hospital. Duties related to general maintenance, cleaning, material handling, and support tasks as assigned fall within the scope of this role.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required:
- Knowledge of safe lifting and moving methods and procedures.
- Basic communications skills (verbal/comprehension).
- Ability to use a variety of hand tools.
- Ability to lift medium to heavy weights (50lbs).
- Ability to handle a physically demanding position.
- Ability to take direction from more than one source.
- Cross cultural sensitivity and awareness.
The successful candidate will have Grade 10 education, 3 months of experience performing labouring duties, preferably in a healthcare or hospital environment and must hold a valid Class 5 Yukon Driver's License with a clean driver's abstract. WHMIS certification is desired. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
