We are seeking a talented Assistant Accountant to join our collaborative Corporate Finance team on a 12-month fixed-term appointment. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects and support the management of key financial functions at UAC.
The successful candidate will be responsible for accounts receivable, accounts payable, and bank reconciliations; ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial documentation and transactions; preparing and presenting financial reports to management; and undertaking various administrative and support duties within the department.
Description
As an experienced Assistant Accountant, you will:
- Assist with accounts payable functions, including purchase order tracking, invoice management, and supplier information maintenance.
- Support accounts receivable by issuing invoices, allocating payments, maintaining records and resolving customer queries.
- Perform account reconciliations, including debtor's ledgers and bank statements, and coordinate of payment allocations with IT.
- Respond to Financial inquiries and requests from applicants and departments (e.g. refunds, transfers, fee waivers, and overdue payments.
- Assist with budget preparation, stocktaking, auditing working papers, and maintenance of financial registers.
- Support month end activities and provide back-up assistance across the department when required
About You
We'd love you have:
- A degree in accounting or related field or equivalent combination of experience, education and training
- Willingness to undertake or commence CA/CPA studies.
- Proficiency in accounting systems, preferably Technology One.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines, manage priorities, and work efficiently under pressure.
- A team focused approach with sound independent judgment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Intermediate to Advanced Excel, along with strong general computer skills.
