Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Server Supervisor to join our dynamic leadership team in a fast-paced restaurant & events centre environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for hospitality and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service. As a supervisor, you will be responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere for staff & guest alike and contributing to a lively and robust guest dining experience.
The Server Supervisor is responsible for ensuring exceptional guest experiences through effective staff supervision and hands-on leadership during restaurant and event operations. This role serves as the shift lead, overseeing the service team, coordinating floor activities, and maintaining the highest standards of hospitality and service. The Server Supervisor acts as a key liaison between the service team, kitchen, and management to ensure seamless and professional service in both the restaurant and events centre.
Key Responsibilities: Guest Services:
- Ensure every guest receives outstanding hospitality and service.
- Handle guest inquiries, concerns, and complaints professionally and promptly.
- Maintain a visible presence on the floor to monitor service flow and assist as needed.
- Support the delivery of food and beverages, ensuring presentation and timing meet standards.
- Oversee setup and breakdown of event and dining areas to meet service and client specifications.
Staff Supervision & Shift Leadership:
- Lead front-of-house staff during assigned shifts, acting as the primary point of contact for service-related decisions.
- Assign stations and responsibilities at the beginning of each shift and ensure all areas are properly staffed.
- Train, coach, and mentor servers, bartenders, and support staff in accordance with company policies and service expectations.
- Conduct pre-shift meetings to communicate daily goals, special functions, and menu changes.
- Monitor staff performance and enforce company standards of professionalism and appearance.
- Assist in scheduling, onboarding, and providing feedback to team members.
Operational & Administrative Duties:
- Oversee opening and closing duties, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and readiness for service.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Assist with inventory counts, stock rotation, and ordering of supplies as needed.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure accurate and timely food service, especially during large events.
- Complete shift reports, incident logs, and communicate effectively with management.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role in a restaurant, banquet, or hospitality setting.
- Sporting facility food & beverage service or management is an asset.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of restaurant and event service best practices.
- Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
- Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Smart Serve or equivalent alcohol service certification.
- First Aid/CPR certification an asset.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs (e.g., trays, supplies).
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, loud, and high-energy environment.
