Reporting to the Director, Employer Relations, the Team Lead will help ensure that the team of Co-op Coordinators is operating most efficiently by participating in industryportfolio planning, employer engagement, and co-op job development. The Team Lead will leverage analytics and performance insights to monitor progress, identify trends, and provide recommendations aligned with departmental goals. In doing so, they will support the Employer Relations unit to meet or exceed annual PEY Co op recruitment targets.

The Team Lead will foster collaboration inside and outside of the Engineering Career Centre while maintaining efficient administration and workflows. They will ensure compliance with established practices and create an environment where every team member contributes meaningfully to collective success.

To stay connected with evolving student and industry needs, the Team Lead will maintain their own portfolio of student and employer relationships, actively building partnerships that expand co-op hiring opportunities. You will also collaborate with the appropriate stakeholders to amplify the team's reach and impact.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Planning and implementing workflow for a group
  • Developing and implementing targeted outreach initiatives
  • Developing and revising business methods that support employment services activities and objectives
  • Identifying, fostering and maintaining relationships with potential and existing employers
  • Tracking the status of employer relations initiatives, activities and outcomes
  • Researching and recommending new opportunities for external collaborations and partnerships
  • Analyzing data to determine trends and recommend target markets

Essential Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in business administration, human resources, or education, or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience in employer development in a co-operative education environment or equivalent experience.
  • Experience supervising staff and/or volunteers, preferably in a unionized environment.
  • Relevant experience in work-integrated learning programming and career advising.
  • Experience in market research and analysis, identification of target markets as well as direct relationship development.
  • Proven data-driven approach to measuring end-to-end business process including individual tactics and initiatives, new job development, retention, and target outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of labour market trends.
  • Track record of success building and maintaining effective relationships with potential and existing employers, partners, alumni, and professional bodies in a target driven environment.
  • Strong customer service and results orientation and ability to effectively balance the needs of multiple stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to foster an engaging team atmosphere and motivate both individual and collective accountability to team targets and plans.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team with strong accuracy and a focused attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required in addition to the ability to make strong and confident presentations to a range of audiences.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 programs and strong IT fluency.
  • Proven ability to demonstrate strong judgement, initiative, accountability, tact, diplomacy, and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects or priorities simultaneously with strong organizational skills.
  • Must have excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to travel within the GTA and surrounding area.
  • A passion and commitment to the University and its students, and ability to bring energy and creativity to the role.
