About The Role
The Staff Software Engineer – AI (DevOps) role is a strategic and technical leadership position responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced AI-driven solutions within a cloud-based environment. This role involves partnering closely with product, architecture, and engineering teams to define technical needs and strategies, leading research and development efforts, and ensuring the deployment of secure, reliable, and scalable AI platforms. The engineer will leverage their expertise in DevOps, platform engineering, and AI/ML operations to optimize systems for security, automation, and performance. Additionally, the role emphasizes guiding development teams in the safe and effective use of AI within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), promoting best practices in AI/ML Ops, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of overall software engineering, DevOps, or platform engineering experience
  • 3+ years in a Lead-level DevOps, Platform, or SRE capacity
  • 2+ years supporting AI-driven solutions at an enterprise scale
  • Proven experience designing and operating solutions on cloud platforms such as Azure and/or AWS
  • Deep expertise with core cloud services including compute, storage, networking, identity, and managed databases
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerization (Docker), including managed Kubernetes services like AWS EKS or Azure AKS
  • Strong background in CI/CD pipelines, with proficiency in tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions
  • Experience implementing MCP server architectures, orchestration workflows, and agentic pipelines in production environments
  • Knowledge of AI/ML Ops concepts, including model/version management, monitoring, evaluation, and governance
  • Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, Bicep, or Ansible
  • Familiarity with AI platforms like Azure AI Foundry, Azure AI Search, or similar technologies
  • Solid understanding of Git, branching strategies, and GitOps principles
  • Proven ability to own and operate continuous delivery/deployment pipelines and production services
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a track record of mentoring engineering teams

Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement AI-driven solutions utilizing agentic AI patterns, MCP server architectures, and orchestration workflows
  • Design and operate scalable, secure, and cost-efficient AI platforms on cloud infrastructure (Azure and/or AWS) using Kubernetes
  • Integrate large language models (LLMs), vector search, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) techniques with services like Azure AI Foundry and Azure AI Search
  • Define and enforce AI/ML Ops practices for model and pipeline lifecycle management, including versioning, monitoring, and governance
  • Plan, deploy, and maintain critical AI and business applications in cloud environments, ensuring high availability and security
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for AI and non-AI workloads, automating build, test, scan, and deployment processes
  • Develop infrastructure-as-code for cloud, Kubernetes, networking, and platform services to ensure repeatability and consistency
  • Create and maintain agentic workflows that orchestrate tools, services, and data sources for complex business processes
  • Utilize AI tools within the SDLC, such as AI-assisted code generation and AI-driven testing, to enhance development velocity and quality
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for AI automation and process improvements
  • Perform system monitoring, incident response, and performance tuning to ensure optimal platform operation
  • Support high-severity incident recovery and lead technical troubleshooting efforts
  • Establish and maintain monitoring, alerting, SLOs, and dashboards for AI services, ensuring business continuity
  • Partner with security and compliance teams to meet standards related to security, privacy, and governance
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and training to engineering teams across multiple locations
  • Lead technical reviews, architecture discussions, and cross-team initiatives to promote best practices and innovation
