About The Role
The Staff Software Engineer – AI (DevOps) role is a strategic position designed for experienced professionals who excel at integrating AI solutions within cloud and DevOps environments. This role involves partnering closely with product, architecture, and engineering teams to define technical needs and strategies, lead research and development efforts, and support operational activities. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of advanced software engineering skills and deep expertise in DevOps and AI/ML platforms, focusing on optimizing systems for security, automation, reliability, and performance. The role also emphasizes guiding development teams on the safe and effective use of AI within their software development lifecycle, including leveraging tools like GitHub Actions and other MCPS tooling, and driving best practices in AI/ML operations.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of overall software engineering, DevOps, or platform engineering experience
• 3+ years in a Lead-level DevOps, Platform, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) capacity
• 2+ years supporting AI-driven solutions at an enterprise scale
• Proven experience designing and operating solutions on cloud platforms such as Azure and/or AWS
• Hands-on expertise with Kubernetes and containerization (Docker), including managed Kubernetes services like EKS or AKS
• Deep knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and MCPS tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions
• Experience implementing MCP server architectures, orchestration workflows, and agentic pipelines
• Strong understanding of AI/ML Ops concepts, including model versioning, monitoring, evaluation, and governance
• Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Python, Bash, and PowerShell
• Practical experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, Bicep, or Ansible
• Experience with AI platforms such as Azure AI Foundry, Azure AI Search, or similar vector search technologies
• Solid understanding of Git, branching strategies, and GitOps principles
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to mentor and influence teams

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement AI-driven solutions utilizing agentic AI patterns, MCP server architectures, and orchestration workflows
• Design and operate scalable, secure, and cost-effective AI platforms on cloud infrastructure (Azure and/or AWS) using Kubernetes
• Integrate large language models (LLMs), vector search, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) patterns with relevant cloud services
• Define and enforce AI/ML Ops practices covering model and pipeline lifecycle management, versioning, monitoring, and governance
• Deploy, maintain, and support critical AI and business applications across cloud environments, ensuring high availability and performance
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for AI and non-AI workloads, automating build, test, scan, and deployment processes
• Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code for cloud, Kubernetes, networking, and platform services
• Create agentic workflows to orchestrate tools, data sources, and services supporting complex business processes
• Leverage AI tools within the SDLC, including AI-assisted code generation, automated testing, and triage, to enhance productivity and quality
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for AI automation and process improvements
• Perform system monitoring, incident management, and performance tuning to ensure reliability and efficiency
• Lead technical recovery efforts during high-severity incidents impacting AI platforms and services
• Establish monitoring, alerting, SLOs, and dashboards to ensure ongoing health and performance of AI services
• Partner with security and compliance teams to meet standards related to data privacy, security, and governance
• Provide technical mentorship, support, and education to engineering teams across multiple locations
• Contribute to technical documentation, runbooks, and standards to promote best practices and knowledge sharing
• Participate in architecture reviews, design discussions, and cross-team initiatives to align technology strategies
