ABOUT EXA
Exa Capital is a permanent capital holding company focused on acquiring and building vertical market software businesses. We take a long-term, stewardship-driven approach – buying and holding companies forever, and empowering leaders through a decentralized operating model.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct industry research by screening and researching potential target companies
- Identify and qualify target companies and nurture leads – proactively initiating and maintaining relationships with owners of software businesses by email, phone, LinkedIn, conferences
- Grow Exa's prospect database and qualify target companies to ensure they meet our investment profile based on a very specific set of criteria
- Coordinate meetings, generate reports on leads, and progress opportunities through the M&A pipeline
- Support the M&A team by overseeing business development related projects and assisting with ad-hoc metric analysis
- Lead the development of new outreach and engagement strategies, including auditing the performance of existing strategies, and researching new and innovative methods for increasing the impact of Exa's M&A Origination team
- Support M&A Origination & Execution team members, including leading the training/onboarding of new team members and supporting junior team members when needed
- Support and on occasion lead weekly M&A Team meetings, including the review & weekly audit of qualification work conducted by Karachi-based M&A Research Analysts
- Take ownership of the M&A origination process by leading discussions with target company management teams and advisors and navigate opportunities from origination to the issuance of Indicative Offers. Assist with drafting Indicative Offer letters and fielding offer-specific questions.
- Review preliminary target company information, including Confidential Information Memorandums (CIM), company financials, and ownership structure to assess the quality of target companies
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Experience Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in a business development/lead generation role, ideally in enterprise software and/or a B2B environment is a must.
- Excellent academic performance in an Undergraduate Business degree.
- A degree in Finance or Accounting is considered an asset.
- Proven ability to manage a pipeline of leads and exceed prospecting targets/KPIs.
Skill Requirements:
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Experience working in M&A, software, or technology is considered an asset.
- Proficiency with HubSpot is considered an asset.
- Highly proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Self-motivated, hands-on attitude with a sense of urgency towards driving business development efforts.
- Excellent planning, organization, and time management skills.
- Highly metrics-driven and resilient.
- Highly confident in presenting to C-suite executives and business owners.
- Professional attitude and a persistent and solid work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team-oriented hybrid environment.
- Growth mindset with an entrepreneurial spirit.
- Willingness and ability to work within a hybrid remote/in-office environment.

Compensation
Salary Range:
$85,000 – $100,000 per year
