What is the Opportunity? 

Aecon is under contract with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) to carry out the Turbine Generator Refurbishment at the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station. What You'll Do Here:

Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging.Support project specific conventional safety and environmental management plans and procedures including; inspections, audits, field observation and coaching, Worker Trades Committee and JHSCAdvise project staff on the requirements of conventional safety procedures; Hot Work, Working at Heights, Dropped Object Prevention, Confined Spaces, Working on or around Electrical Equipment, Ergonomics, etc.Additional detailed requirements as outlined in the Project Specific EHS and related programsComplete in field observations, critical risk management and behavioral based observationsCollect WBGT readings in the field and communicate potential High Hazards and suggest controls to supervision and constructionAssist in communicating safety messaging in Safety Meetings as well as Safety StandupsSupport Human Performance program activitiesAssist in development of Safe Work Plans, JSA, High Hazard Assessments, Critical Material Handling and Lift plans as well as provide feedback to supervisors on Pre Job Briefs and task assignment/assessment.Event Prevention & Reporting: Promote Core 4+ Tools (Pre-Job Brief, Post-Job Debrief, Procedure Adherence, 2-Minute Job Site Drill, Verification Practices).  Ensure timely reporting of injuries, spills, dropped objects, and near misses.Respond to and investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions. Implement corrective actions aligned with the Hierarchy of Controls.Track and report safety-related statistics, help manage Return to Work and review Modified duties cases at the field level.Complete site Audits and provide feedback to EHS management on the status of the EHS management system.

What You Bring To The Team:

Minimum 2-3 years of experience in Health and Safety within the construction industry Relevant Post Secondary education or equivalent experience in the H&S fieldA designation such as NCSO, CHSO, CRSP, CRST, or Gold Seal is an asset but not a requirementA Team Player that is adaptable and flexible to an ever-changing environmentBackground in Training and/or Education and or experience delivering EHS Training programs to individuals and groups is an assetBe a champion of inclusion and diversityOPG Security Clearance would be considered an asset
