Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting kitchen operations, ensuring food safety, and assisting in meal preparation. This position is perfect for individuals who are passionate about the food industry and eager to learn more about food service in a restaurant environment.

Duties

  • Assist in the preparation of meals, including chopping, slicing, and cooking ingredients as directed by the head cook or chef.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of waste properly.
  • Follow food safety guidelines to ensure all food is handled and stored correctly to prevent contamination.
  • Help with inventory management by restocking supplies and notifying management of low stock levels.
  • Support the kitchen staff during busy service times by preparing ingredients and assisting with plating dishes.
  • Participate in regular cleaning tasks to maintain a hygienic kitchen environment.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in food preparation or kitchen assistance is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of food safety practices and proper food handling techniques is essential.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team setting.
  • A passion for cooking and eagerness to learn about various aspects of meal preparation in a restaurant setting.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Preferably West African or Nigeria Descent.
