The Role
Our client is a recognized leader in the design and manufacturing of specialized equipment used in industries such as power generation, petrochemical, nuclear, and medical. Their innovative approach combines advanced control technology, precision engineering, and manufacturing expertise to deliver high-quality, custom solutions for complex industrial applications.

We're seeking an Intermediate Buyer who thrives in a dynamic manufacturing environment and enjoys working collaboratively across departments. This role is ideal for someone who's hands-on, organized, and eager to grow within procurement and supply chain.

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Intermediate Buyer will support purchasing functions across both business lines, from component sourcing to engineering-related procurement. You'll play a key role in maintaining the flow of materials, ensuring cost-effectiveness, and contributing to process improvements across the department.

Responsibilities

  • Purchase materials, components, and supplies to meet production and project needs
  • Communicate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery, quality, and cost efficiency
  • Manage data entry and purchasing information within ERP. Dynamics Great Plains and Excel systems
  • Support the shipping and receiving process and assist with quality assurance documentation
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to align purchasing with operational goals
  • Identify cost-saving and process improvement opportunities
  • Maintain and update vendor information

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience in a purchasing or buying role, ideally in a manufacturing environment
  • ERP/MRP system experience (Microsoft Great Plains preferred)
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, reporting)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to handle competing priorities
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with multiple departments
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field
  • Experience reading technical drawings or blueprints (Nice to have)
  • Exposure to quality assurance processes (Nice to have)
  • Experience in custom manufacturing or engineering environments
