QA/QC Technician

Job Summary:

Responsible for quality assurance/quality control checks for all products, recordkeeping of quality control reports, pictures, and facilitate resolution of open non-conformance issues. Additional responsibility may include travel to customer sites as a field service representative, and assist with inventory management, as needed.

Responsibilities
:

  1. Perform routine quality inspection tests including but not limited to dimensional, visual casting quality, composition, mechanical property evaluation (hardness) and other necessary tests on incoming products to verify/certify they meet the standards set by the organization.
  2. Develop and maintain clear inspection reports in an organized manner (following company organization procedures).
  3. Prepare samples and surfaces of products for compositional, hardness and other test procedures necessary for ensuring appropriate quality.
  4. Scan and verify dimensional and geometrical accuracy of necessary products using 3D modelling and inspection software. Verify dimensions are within the allowable tolerance. Appropriate training for use of the scanner and software will be provided.
  5. Create NCRs (non-conformance reports) when required and communicate quality issues with Engineering and Procurement. Actively participate in the resolution of NCRs in a timely manner and ensure appropriate actions are taken in the CRM to close NCRs with relevant notes.
  6. Maintain calibration of quality control equipment.
  7. Assist Engineering in preparing ITPs (Inspection Test Plans).
  8. Handle other duties and assignments as requested. This may include travel to a customer's site as a field service representative and assist with inventory management.
  9. Identify gaps in the quality control process and present ideas to the team for improving process efficiency.
  10. Update QC SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) as and when needed by issuing new revision, with supervisory approval.

Requirements for Competence
:

  1. Diploma in mechanical engineering technology, red seal millwright, machinist, mechanic, materials testing certification diploma or equivalent experience.
  2. Competent with the use of precision measuring tools in both metric and imperial.
  3. Certification in Non-Destructive Testing is an asset.
  4. Previous experience with quality control concepts and systems is an asset.
  5. Familiarity with ASTM standards and inspection test procedures is an asset.
  6. Ability to read and interpret documents such as product specifications, engineering drawings, technical manuals and procedures.
  7. Experience with Solid Works and other 3D software is an asset
  8. Experience using a 3D light or digital scanner is an asset.
  9. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM is an asset.
  10. Quick learner and detail Oriented.
  11. Proficient working with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  12. Well organized with the ability to set priorities and schedules.
  13. Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  14. Willingness to travel to field locations, valid drivers license and passpor
