The Opportunity
CGMH is seeking a summer student to join our team. This position offers the student a chance to make a real impact by improving patient education resources at CGMH. You'll collaborate with healthcare and communications teams, help standardize and organize materials, and contribute to projects that enhance patient experience and support the hospital's strategic goals – all while gaining valuable professional experience in a supportive growth-oriented environment.

Please note this position is dependent on funding from the Canada Summer Jobs program and candidates must meet the criteria of the program to be eligible.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in post-secondary study pursuing one of the following areas of study: Communications, Healthcare or Business, related field
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite (word processing, excel) and an aptitude for software applications.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
  • Ability to work independently and effectively communicate with other members of the health care team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality and data integrity

Duties And Responsibilities
Including but not limited to:

  • Conduct a comprehensive audit of all existing patient education materials across departments, identifying gaps, inconsistencies, and outdated content.
  • Support the development of standardization of templates to ensure consistent, accessible, and patient-friendly materials.
  • Assist in creating a formal review and approval process for patient education resources, including integration of feedback from Patient and Family Advisors (PFAs)
  • Develop a system for centralized storage, organization, and version control of all patient education materials.
  • Research and recommend digital or physical tools to support long-term management and tracking of patient resources.
  • Explore the feasibility and structure of a Patient Education Working Group or Committee, including drafting proposed terms of reference and membership guidelines.
  • Collaborate with clinical, communications, and patient experience teams to gather input and ensure materials meet organizational standards.
  • Prepare summary reports, recommendations, and documentation to support sustainability of the project after the summer term concludes.
