About the role:

The Hospital strives to deliver care that is centred on patients and families. Patient and Family Centred Care (PFCC)

is the provision of care that is respectful of, and responsive to individual patient/family preferences, needs, and values

and ensures that those values guide all decisions. Creating a caring environment for patients and families ensures

continuity of care and fosters a learning environment. Applicants are required to have a demonstrated knowledge,

understanding and commitment to this care philosophy.

Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Physical Plant & Mechanical, the Plumber is responsible for maintaining, and

monitoring of all plumbing and piping equipment, services and systems in the hospital and on the hospital grounds.

The candidate must be in possession of a current Certificate of Qualification as a plumber and ensure all new

installations are in compliance with the City of Thunder Bay, and all other applicable codes.

Qualifications:

* Valid certificate of qualification supported by certificate of apprenticeship Plumber/Fitter

* Backflow certification, or willingness to obtain, would be considered an asset

* Institutional maintenance, installation and repair experience would be preferred

* Working knowledge of mechanical systems, plant operations, electrical safety, systems and control would be

considered an asset

* Ability to exhibit a courteous and professional manner when interacting with colleagues, staff, patients and visitors

is required

* Valid Emergency First Aid and C.P.R. Certification, or willingness to obtain, would be considered an asset

Salary Range: $35.900 to 37.400

The Health Sciences Centre strives to ensure the safety and security of the patients, visitors, employees and assets

Safety. Candidates will have demonstrated adherence to the Hospital's Code of Conduct. Regular attendance at

work is imperative, therefore, all applicants will have to demonstrate a good attendance record to be considered for

this position.
