Senior AI Integration Engineer - Remote Contract Position
Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior AI Integration Engineer to serve as the AI "power-up" for our team in a 100% remote contract role. This position offers 6-12+ months duration with strong possibility of further extensions. You will act as an expert in leveraging existing AI/ML models and platforms to solve real-world business problems, focusing on practical implementation rather than research.

Key Responsibilities
AI Integration & Implementation

  • Select and integrate appropriate AI models from platforms like Hugging Face, OpenAI, or Vertex AI

  • Develop expertise in prompt engineering and craft effective API calls to achieve specific business objectives

  • Deploy pre-trained AI models into production-ready environments

Solution Ownership & Delivery

  • Take full ownership of AI solutions from initial concept to deployed, production-ready state

  • Prioritize tangible outcomes over perfection with a bias for action approach

  • Rapidly dissect complex problems, identify root causes, and formulate pragmatic solutions under pressure

Data Pipeline & Systems Architecture

  • Build robust data pipelines for cleaning, processing, and feeding data to AI models

  • Think holistically about system integration and how AI solutions fit within existing infrastructure

  • Work with both structured and unstructured data including text, images, and audio

Communication & Ethics

  • Clearly articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Maintain strong awareness of ethical implications and potential biases in AI implementations

  • Collaborate effectively across different teams with a humble, learning-oriented approach

Required Qualifications
Technical Expertise

  • Hands-on experience integrating and deploying pre-trained AI models

  • Proficiency with major AI platforms (Hugging Face, OpenAI, Vertex AI, Amazon SageMaker)

  • Strong software engineering skills with solid understanding of development principles, data structures, and algorithms

  • Python proficiency is mandatory

AI/ML Foundation

  • Solid understanding of core machine learning concepts including model training, evaluation, and bias detection

  • Experience with systems thinking and understanding component interactions

  • Proven track record in creative and effective problem-solving

Professional Skills

  • Strong team collaboration abilities with focus on collective success

  • Willingness to learn from others and adapt to new technologies

  • Startup/founder mentality with emphasis on practical implementation

Preferred Qualifications
Industry Experience

  • Healthcare industry knowledge including data standards, privacy regulations (HIPAA), and workflows

  • Experience with cutting-edge technologies like BigQuery and Airflow

Additional Technical Skills

  • Frontend development experience with JavaScript or other frameworks for building AI-powered user interfaces

  • Expertise working with diverse data types and formats
