Line Cook Instructor

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate culinary professional to join our Line Cook Training Program as a Line Cook Instructor. This role is ideal for an experienced Chef or seasoned Cook who is looking to transition into teaching and mentoring individuals new to the culinary field.
The Line Cook Instructor is responsible for delivering hands-on kitchen instruction and classroom-based learning, supporting students as they develop foundational cooking skills, food safety knowledge, and workplace readiness for employment in a professional kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and instruct the Line Cook curriculum in both kitchen and classroom settings
- Provide course materials that are clear, practical, and appropriate for beginner learners
- Research, develop, adapt, and modify competency-based training materials as required
- Plan menus and complete food and supply orders to support training delivery
- Demonstrate proper food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and presentation standards
- Teach and reinforce food safety, sanitation, and workplace health and safety practices
- Develop, administer, and grade evaluations, assignments, and practical skill assessments
- Provide ongoing coaching, guidance, and individualized support to participants
- Model professional kitchen behavior, teamwork, and time management
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized training kitchen environment
Qualifications & Skills
- Several years of experience working as a Chef or Line Cook in a professional kitchen
- Experience supervising or leading kitchen staff is strongly preferred
- Red Seal Chef or Journeyman Cook certification is considered an asset
- Ability to teach and demonstrate skills to individuals with varying experience levels
- Strong organizational, time management, and planning skills
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Excellent English communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working with diverse or multicultural learner groups
- Patient, supportive, and adaptable teaching style
Experience & Knowledge
- Strong understanding of food preparation, cooking techniques, and meal assembly
- In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations, sanitation standards, and safe food handling
- Familiarity with inventory management and ordering processes
- Ability to remain calm, organized, and effective in a fast-paced kitchen setting
- Commitment to professional standards, quality instruction, and learner success
