Surplus Furniture requires a Payroll Specialist to process all aspects of the company payroll. This will include processing payroll, maintaining records related to payroll, compiling, and examining employee payroll reports, assisting employees with questions regarding payroll, and all other duties as assigned for Canadian retail stores.
The Payroll Specialist will be reporting to the Payroll Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process the weekly payroll cycle utilizing ADP Workforce Now.
- Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
- Assist with the weekly processing of commissions.
- Understand proper taxation and other withholdings.
- Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance.
- Maintain vacation and absence records.
- Prepare records of employment.
- Provide payroll support to employees and supervisors where needed.
- Maintaining confidential information by adhering to legal and ethical standards.
- Process criminal background checks.
- Enter and setup new hires and benefits.
- All other administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary diploma/degree in an acceptable discipline related to payroll and/or human resources, PCP designation.
- 3+ years of experience with primary responsibility for time and attendance, and payroll administration and processing for 300+ employees.
- 2+ years of experience with ADP Workforce Now, or payroll processing systems.
- Knowledge of provincial laws as they relate to compensation and benefits.
- Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong work ethic and Time management skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
