Scope of the position: This job outline describes the Production Supervisor – SMT role in support of Microart Services Inc. This position will report directly to the Operations Manager. The purpose of this role is to coordinate daily production activities in the SMT department to meet customer requirements. The focus of this role is to lead and motivate team members to meet customer requirements, while also attaining the company's objectives of safety, quality, and throughput.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
• Responsible for all aspects of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) operations, and exercises control and direction over the day-to-day production activities.
• Responsible for planning, allocating and scheduling manufacturing capacity, allocate overtime for department employees to meet production requirements if necessary.
• Review and identify areas to improve throughput.
• Resolve production issues and maintain daily communications with Project Managers, other Production Supervisors, and Operations Manager.
• Handle operators' issues / problems pertaining SMT department.
• Ensures quality of workmanship meets IPC standard requirements.
• Communicates with other supervisors to ensure efficiency and high level of productivity on our production lines, and to ensure all information related to production and quality concerns are addressed.
• Conducts regular team meetings to communicate issues, review performance and track actions required to meet improvements.
• Assesses team member skill levels and ensure appropriate training, information, experiences, knowledge and best practices is provided when necessary.
• Manages performance of SMT team members including completion and delivery of probationary and annual performance reviews, setting objectives & expectations and developing team members to their fullest potential.
• Provides input for discipline, recommendations for increases, hiring, and terminations in conjunction with Operations Manager and Human Resources.
• Ensures all work instructions are followed, and new procedures are implemented as required.
• Coaches and develops the department employees.
• Ensures that the department employees follow the rules outlined in the employee handbook.
• Provides input and assistance to Operations Manager and Human Resources for staff training and career development planning.
• Ensures all department employees maintain a safe and clean working environment, and work in compliance with established safe work practices and procedures.
• Reports all problems/concerns/accidents/incidents to Management.
• Other duties as assigned by management team.
Requirements
• Minimum 3 years' experience in an electronic assembly manufacturing, with advanced knowledge of electronic components; knowledge of electronics manufacturing best practices is an asset. Mechanical assembly experience of small electronic equipment is essential in a low volume/high mix environment. Preferably in contract manufacturing environment.
• Degree or equivalent experience in business administration, management, mechanical or electrical engineering
• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with all levels of the organization
• Demonstrated organizational, time management, problem solving and decision-making skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, team building and coaching skills are essential
• Able to work in a high changed / fast-paced environment under tight deadlines
• Dedicated, professional attitude; enthusiastic and willing to learn
• Good computer skills: experience in using an ERP or MRP is a definite advantage; familiar with MS Office suite is required
• Knowledge of ISO 9000 Quality standards
• Ability to learn multiple tasks and work in a fast paced, low-volume/high mix environment
