About the Role:
Child and Youth volunteers supports the delivery of YMCA recreational programs and childminding services, ensuring participants have a safe, positive, and engaging experience. This role may assist in one or more programs, including basketball, soccer, floor hockey, volleyball, creative arts, day camps and childminding.
Responsibilities:
- Assists program instructors and actively engages with participants in YMCA child and youth programs, including childminding
- Supervises children, whether in program activities or in the childminding room, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment.
- Promotes positive behaviour and inclusion by supporting group management and working collaboratively with staff and other volunteers.
- Follows all YMCA safety and cleanliness standards and assists the program instructor during sign-in/out to ensure smooth transitions.
- Upholds the philosophy, mission, and values of YMCA of Northern Alberta in all interactions.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 15 years of age
- High School Diploma or equivalent is an asset
- Early Childhood development or related experience is an asset
- Certifications: Standard First Aid & CPR-C is an asset
- Able to obtain a Police Information Check and Vulnerable sector check
