Community Youth Worker

What We are Looking For:

We are currently recruiting for Community Youth Worker to join our Community Services Team for a full-time position. This role is responsible for supporting youth programming at the Langs Concession Rd. location Including program planning, group facilitation, and evaluation and reporting responsibilities

A successful candidate in this role would have

  • Post-secondary education and training in recreation and leisure, social services, or a related field.

  • Staff and volunteer supervision experience

  • Highly developed program planning, group work, and facilitation skills

  • Experience and understanding of community development.

  • Experience working with high-risk youth would be an asset

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficient in the use of computers and various software applications

  • HIGH FIVE - Principles of Healthy Child Development Training

  • Safe Food Handling Certificate

  • Valid drivers' license, reliable vehicle with valid insurance is a requirement and willingness to obtain F-Class license

In this role you will be expected to complete the following tasks:

· Design, implement and evaluate programs in the Youth Service Area.

· Directly supervise social and recreation programs for youth.

· Plan, implement and facilitate social skills/development programming in partnership with local schools or community agencies.

· Establish and implement behavioural guidelines, safety standards and norms related to programming and the use of the facility.

· Conduct outreach to youth and parents of youth when appropriate.

· Liaise with related community agencies/partners for the purpose of implementing special projects/decentralized services.

· Supervise, orientate, train and support Peer Workers, Leaders in Training program volunteers and placement students as appropriate.

· Assist with the planning, implementation, and supervision of special events. Completes various administrative duties such as: program reports, individual logs, encountering incident reports, participant lists and community centre statistics.

The successful candidate would be eligible for the following benefits:

· Salary of $$21.83-$24.40 Hourly

· 5 Sick/Personal Days per year (pro-rated to hours worked)

· 5 Professional Development days per year(pro-rated to hours worked)

· Enrolment in Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)
