SENIOR ACTUARIAL ANALYST / MANAGER CAPITAL MODELING - TORONTO
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated Actuary to join our Financial Risk & Actuarial Projects team. Reporting to the SVP, Head of Financial Risk & Actuarial Projects, this role provides technical support in capital modeling and financial risk analysis across our Canadian and U.S. operations. The successful candidate will gain exposure to a wide range of actuarial and risk management functions, while developing expertise in regulatory capital frameworks and enterprise risk management.
Accountabilities include:
- Support the development, maintenance, and enhancement of capital models across insurance, catastrophe, reinsurance counterparty, investment, and liquidity risks.
- Contribute to financial and risk modeling analyses in support of FP&A, Actuarial, and ERM functions.
- Assist with the delivery of ORSA (Own Risk and Solvency Assessment) and FCT (Financial Condition Testing) analyses.
- Maintain knowledge of regulatory capital regimes (OSFI, U.S. RBC, and AM Best BCAR) and support related reporting and analysis.
- Provide modeling and analytical support for emerging risk analysis, stress testing, and scenario development.
- Support cross-functional actuarial and risk management projects, including ad hoc research and analysis.
- Collaborate with senior actuaries and risk professionals to ensure compliance with governance, reporting, and model risk standards.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of actuarial or financial risk experience in P&C insurance or a related field.
- Progress toward ACAS/FCAS, ACIA/FCIA, or equivalent designation preferred.
- Strong technical skills in financial/risk modeling, capital modeling, or actuarial projection tools.
- Experience with Diva, Arius, or catastrophe models (AIR, RMS) is a strong asset.
- Solid understanding of Canadian and U.S. regulatory capital frameworks (OSFI, RBC, BCAR) is an asset.
- Proficiency in data analysis and programming (e.g., SQL, R, Python, or VBA) is an asset.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills; able to work collaboratively across functions.
