Position Title: Senior Production Designer

Reports To: Design Manager

Job Type: Full-Time Permanent

Location: Calgary, AB

The Senior Production Designer is an important member of the Genesis Design Department. The successful candidate will be experienced in drafting and design in a production home building environment. In addition, the successful candidate must be able to communicate with clarity and precision and work collaboratively with other staff members across all departments. A key focus of this role is ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and quality of all production drawings as well as the maintenance of Genesis Builder Group's line-up of models. As a result, a strong proficiency in building technology, building codes and bylaws is essential. The Senior Production Designer will be primarily responsible for assisting in leading the production team, coordinate effectively with Construction, Sales, and other internal departments, and be able to work with Developers, municipalities and trades to resolve issues as they arise.

Role Responsibilities:

· Redline drawings by other members of the Design Department to assist regular production and maintain production targets

· Request and review material required for permit submissions including, but not limited to, plot plans, engineering and joist/truss layouts as required

· Work with Sales to complete custom drawing request

· Attend monthly production meetings on site

· Work with Construction to resolve drawing issues as they arise on site.

· Communicate with municipalities, developers, and consultants to resolve permit or development issues for address-specific homes.

· Maintain model line-up based on factors such as changes to specifications, building code updates, Sales feedback, value engineering, etc.;

· Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes, file organization, and drafting standards.

· Create job-specific drawings from standard plans as required; and

· Other duties as assigned.

Competencies and Skills Required:

· Diploma in Architectural technologist is required.

· Minimum of 10 years of work experience in production builder or equivalent

· Proficiency in AutoCAD Architectural software.

· Self-starter with proven time management skills, good attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to work independently, within a team, and willing to learn.

· Strong building technology skills

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Working Conditions:

· This position works regular office hours i.e., Monday - Thursday 8:00 am to 5:00pm and Friday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Calgary/Airdrie and surrounding area.
